BME-03 and BME-04 readers

BME-03 and BME-04 readers

Overview

BAS-IP panels with B letter in the name (e.g., AA-07FB, AA-14FBC) have built-in readers. After August 2023 we updated the reader version, so the BME-04 model is used instead of BME-03. They are both internal contactless readers for cards, key fobs, and UKEY identifiers and are intended as one of the panels components. BME-04 offers more parameters and identifier formats support.

Using ICT access cards with BME-04 reader

To use ICT access cards with a BAS-IP system, configure the BME-04 reader to read the required credential format.

Depending on the ICT card configuration, you can use one of the following modes: UID read or encrypted data read using a configured Mifare profile.

Configure the reader in the Ukey config mobile app, check the received value in entrance panel logs, and add it to the panel database as an identifier.

Supported technologies

  • Access card standards: Mifare Ultralight, Mifare Classic, Mifare Plus. The full list is available in BAS-IP supported card formats;

  • Operation mode: UID read, encrypted data read;

  • Wiegand: 34-bit.

Hardware requirement

  • Reader model: BAS-IP BME-04;

  • Required firmware version: 30.04 or higher;

  • Output interface: Wiegand.

Reader configuration

To configure the BAS-IP BME-04 reader, use the mobile app: Ukey config.

Install the app on your phone and connect to the reader via Bluetooth.

UID read configuration

UID read mode is enabled by default. If the expected UID length is longer than the value received in the entrance panel logs, set the extended Wiegand format to 58 bits.

Encrypted data read configuration

To read data from encrypted ICT card sectors, configure a Mifare profile.

After connecting to the reader, open the Mifare profiles menu.

Select the first profile. If the reader must support multiple credential profiles, you can configure up to 5 Mifare profiles.

Configure the Mifare profile as follows:

  • Security: SL1 6 bytes;

  • Key: the read key for the 12th sector provided by ICT;

  • Read sectors: 12-12;

  • Read: by address;

  • Use address: big-endian;

  • Card code byte order: 30-46.

After the Mifare profile is configured, return to the main menu, save settings, and reboot the reader to apply the changes.

Debugging and operation check

  1. Open the entrance panel web interface via its local IP address and go to Access management → Wiegand.
    Set the same Wiegand type as in the reader settings and set Identifier representation to Decimal.

  2. Bring the access card to the reader. If you hear a beep followed by an Access denied/granted message on the panel, open Logs in the panel web interface and check the received value.

  3. Compare the received value with the ICT format. The received data must include a site code and a card number. The site code is provided in the ICT specification. The card number is printed on the card.

  4. To obtain read keys for encrypted sectors and the site code, contact the ICT support team. If the BAS-IP panel or reader does not react, or the received value in logs does not match the ICT credentials, contact the BAS-IP support team.

  5. If the received value matches the expected ICT credentials, copy it and add it as a new identifier in the panel database.
