Device description
The SH-12 is an external device connection module for the Wiegand interface to any BAS-IP panels.
This module is designed to connect external readers with a Wiegand output interface, as well as external access controllers with a Wiegand input interface.
It allows you to connect various external devices such as contactless card readers, key fobs, keys, access keypads, etc., with a Wiegand physical interface at their output.
If you use the access keypad, ensure it sends the access code after it is fully entered, i.e., as a single number. If the keypad only sends each code value separately, the access code can not be correctly received by the entrance panel and access will be denied.
In addition, it can be used to connect any external access controllers with a physical Wiegand interface for reader input.
Byte streams received at the Wiegand input of the entrance panel via SH-12 are interpreted by the panel into access cards, therefore all types of IDs received from a third-party reader in this way must also be added to the panel memory with the card type. See How to add a new identifier to a panel memory for the detailed guide.
Also, the module provides the following additional features:
Power output for connected external readers with a power voltage of +12 V DC.
Alternative power output for external readers with a power voltage of +5 V DC.
Activity and data transmission intensity indicator LED.
