Integration with the Axxxon One cameras

Integration with the Axxxon One cameras allows to activate the license plate recognition and use it for entering the premises. For this, a working camera server along with enabled macros required to open a barrier must be set.

This article contains the information on connecting the Axxxon module to the Link server system.

Full information about the features and capabilities of the Axxxon One software can be found here.

Preparation of Axxxon One Software Suite

First, Axxxon One software package must be installed and configured:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XO3gxKezT7o

After the software package is installed, the license must be activated:

After the software suite is activated, you need to connect the suite to the server:

IP Device Discovery Wizard

After the software suite setup is completed, you need to add the camera device using the device discovery wizard.

To open the IP Device Discovery Wizard, click on the Add device link at the end of the Server device list:

The IP Device Discovery Wizard interface includes:

  • Automatic search for IP devices.

  • Manual input of device data.

  • Adding devices to the configuration.

  • Bulk adding devices using .CSV files (see Bulk creation of IP devices).

Automatic search for IP devices

To start searching for devices, click the Search button. While searching, a progress bar will be displayed.

To stop devices search at any time, click the Stop button.

The search results are color-coded based on the status of the device:

Search results can be filtered in two ways:

  1. By status. To hide devices with a certain status, deselect the relevant checkbox.

  1. By vendor, model or IP address. To do this, use the Filter field. For example, this filters the Sony devices.

  1. In addition, you can filter cameras from a subnet.

Manual input of device data

If an IP device is not shown in the search results (because it is located on a different subnet or the connection with it is temporarily lost), you can add it manually. To do this, you need to select the type of device to be added, specify the IP address and connection port of the device, and select the vendor and model in the area with a neutral background located under the list with automatic search results.

You can also specify the vendor and model of the device using the search in the input field.

If the device's IP address, Port, Vendor, Username and Password are set, the device Model can be automatically detected by clicking the Search button next to the Model window:

Adding devices to the configuration

You can add the devices in bulk, using one of three modes are available:

  • Start with default settings: The device is added to the configuration with the default settings (the default settings are determined by Axxon One itself). Adding a device in this mode will change the current settings of the device specified in the web interface

  • Keep current settings: The device will be added using the settings specified in the web interface

  • Start with parameters: The device is added to the configuration with the settings that have been previously specified for a device of the same model in the configuration. Select a device of the same model (the "template device") in the list. Only devices of the same model are shown in the list of search results for choosing the template device. Parameters that will be set according to the template device: firmware, video stream settings, buffering settings, Other settings (see The Camera object), and Other settings for Microphone and Speaker objects, if these are configured for the template device.

This mode is best when multiple cameras of the same model are in use at a site. If this is the case, we advise to:

    • Add and configure one device.

    • Add the remaining devices, copying settings from the "template device" as described previously

You can also add a single device using the Plus button located on the right to the device number.

Configuring Web Server

The web server allows remote access to the Axxxon One suite over the internet.

The detailed information on the web server configuration is available here.

To configure the web server in Axxon One, do the following:

  1. Select a Server object.

  2. By default, the web server starts automatically together with the server. If you want to disable the web server, set the value of the Enable parameter to No (1).

  3. In the Port field, enter the port number on which the web server will be located (2).

  4. To connect to the web server via the SSL port only, do the following:

    1. Enter the SSL port number to connect to the Web-Server (7).

    2. Specify a path to the private key file (6).

    3. Specify a path to the certificate file (3).

  5. If the Web-Server should use the CORS mechanism, enable the corresponding parameter (4).
    Axxon One supports the following:

    1. CORS HTTP-headers for GET and POST requests.

    2. Preflight requests.

  6. If the web server must transcode the stream, enable the corresponding parameter (5). By default, the web server doesn’t transcode the stream, which helps to avoid unpredictable CPU load on the server. For example, if the browser cannot playback a video in H.265 format, you must switch to a browser-supported video codec (see Real-time video surveillance in the Web-Client) or change the video codec of the camera to the video codec supported by the browser (see The Camera object).

  7. In the URL path field, enter the prefix that is added to the Server address (8).

  8. Click the Apply button to apply the configured parameters and restart the web server.

The web server is now configured and available online at the following address:

http://<IP address of Axxon One Server>:<Port>/<Prefix>.

For example, if the server’s IP-address is 10.0.11.1, the port is 8000, and the prefix is /asip-api, then the web server can be accessed at the following address: http://10.0.11.1:8000/asip-api.

  • On the local computer that has the web server running, ports from the range [9001; 9001 + number of logical cores of the processor] must be open.

  • Except for H.264 format, the web server transcodes the incoming video image using the MJPEG compression algorithm, which can result in high levels of incoming traffic.

Configuring License Plate Recognition

After the cameras and servers are set, you need to сonfigure the license plate detection tools.

To do so, in the Axxxon One software suite, go to the Detection Tools tab.

Below the designated camera, click Create…  Category: Vehicle  License Plate Recognition VT.

By default, the detection tool is enabled and set to recognize vehicle license plates. If necessary, you can change the detection tool parameters. The detailed information on the parameters is found here.

Configuring Macros

Macro is a tool used to configure system responses to certain events. System response may include one or several different actions.

In case of the integration with the Link software, the event driven macros, or Event rules should be created for the license plates recognition and subsequent barrier opening. These macros can run automatically on detecting the specified events or initiated manually by the operator. When triggered, the actions in the macro are executed once.

To create the macros for the license plate recognition, visit the Programming tab in the Axxxon software suite:

The full information on how to create the macros for the license plate recognition is provided in the following articles:

Configuring start conditions for event-driven macros

Configuring macros when working with vehicles lists
