Features of the system when calling by internal protocol

When setting up the system for calls using an internal protocol, it is necessary to take into account several key features that determine the correct operation of the entire system:

  • All BAS-IP devices on the same LAN must have static IP addresses.

  • In the network where the BAS-IP intercom system is installed, at the network level, there should not be any restrictions for the passage of traffic over multicast and UDP, since these are fundamental methods of transferring data between devices.

  • All devices should be configured according to the logical address, based on the values of the building, unit, floor, and apartment. At this logical address, you can then make a call to the internal monitors and calling panels.

  • Before setting up and installing devices, it is necessary to create and list the device location map and the network and logical addresses assigned to them. After the devices are commissioned, transfer this map to the person in charge who will be directly involved in setting up the devices.

  • If there are more than 254 devices, you need to build a mixed network or more, including networks connected by VLANs, or use the subnet mask extension.

Advantages when operating the system using the internal protocol:

  1. To connect devices to each other, it is enough to configure network and logical addresses.

  2. When establishing communication between devices, the video stream is transmitted before answering the call.

  3. The system will work more stable since there will be no dependence on the external server.

  4. Each device has the ability to communicate with each device within the broadcast domain. A call from any outdoor panel can be made either on one monitor or on a group, using the devices themselves.

  5. Up to 10,000 devices can be connected in the system simultaneously.

Disadvantages when operating the system according to the internal protocol:

  1. There is no way to forward a call to a mobile device.

  2. It is not possible to use third-party devices (call panels, monitors, IP handsets) if they do not support a P2P SIP connection.

  3. Limitations in the choice of dialers from the call panel if there are several monitors in the apartment. You can either call all at once or take turns at each.

  4. The maximum number of devices to which you can make a simultaneous or sequential call from the call panel is 8.

  5. If the logical separation of the network is incorrect, if there are IP cameras that support multicast, false calls to internal monitors are possible.

  6. For correct dialing from the call panels, guests need to know the logical address of the monitor in the apartment where they want to go. In the case of perimeter mode, guests need to know the full logical address, from 7 to 10 characters.

  7. The system is limited to operating within the broadcast domain unless multicast redirection is used.
